App privacy
How StatLens collects, uses, shares, and retains information, and how to contact us or delete your account.
This policy covers the StatLens iOS app, including TestFlight testing, and app-related support. Visits to this website are covered by our website privacy policy.
We do not sell your app account information or saved research, or use that information for targeted advertising. Your saved lenses and favorites are private to your account unless you choose to share them.
Information we use
- Account information. When you sign in with email, Apple, or Google, we receive your account identifier, email address (which may be an Apple private relay address), sign-in provider, and available profile information such as your name. Our authentication provider manages sign-in credentials, sessions, and security records. For Apple sign-in, we also retain an encrypted authorization token so we can maintain and revoke the connection.
- Your research and preferences. We store saved player and team lenses, their names and any notes you add, selected statistics and filters, saved result snapshots, favorites, recent player selections, and setup-completion information. A lens paused after Pro expires remains stored until you delete your account or it is otherwise removed under this policy.
- Subscriptions. Apple processes payments. Our subscription-management provider helps us validate purchases, restore access, and understand subscription activity. Subscription records can include your StatLens account ID, product and transaction identifiers, purchase and expiration dates, renewal or refund status, and subscription access. We do not receive your full payment-card number or security code from Apple.
- Device and service information. Our service providers receive network information, including your IP address when you connect. The app’s subscription-management software also sends our subscription-management provider device and app information, including an Apple vendor device identifier, device model, operating-system and app versions, locale, and App Store storefront. That provider may derive a country from an IP address. Hosting and authentication services process access and security logs.
- Error diagnostics. We use an error-diagnostics provider for filtered app and server error reports. Our reporting configuration includes error type, code location, release and environment, and limited technical context; server reports can include a request identifier. It excludes account identity, research contents, free-form error messages, and request bodies from these reports. We do not enable session replay, advertising tracking, or native operating-system crash capture in this configuration.
- Support communications. If you email us, we receive your name if supplied, email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. The app’s support email draft includes its version/build and device software version. You can edit it before sending. This website has no contact form or email-update signup. Information previously submitted through our earlier website may remain with us or its providers; contact us to request review or deletion, or to stop earlier email updates.
How we use information
We use this information to sign you in, sync your saved research, provide Free and Pro features, verify subscription ownership, prevent duplicate or unauthorized access, deliver sign-in emails, respond to support requests, investigate errors, and protect the service. Our subscription-management provider supplies subscription reporting and analytics. Within the app, we do not currently use a separate product-engagement analytics service.
Public NBA statistics come from our data providers. The app reads our stored sports data; it does not send your account or saved lenses to those providers to answer your research requests.
Who processes information
We use service providers for authentication and account-data storage, app and website hosting, sign-in email delivery, error diagnostics, website traffic and performance measurement, domain services, and support email. RevenueCat is our subscription-management provider for purchase validation, ownership records, and reporting. Providers of our earlier website and forms may also retain information submitted there. The email provider you use also processes messages you send. Apple processes App Store purchases. Apple or Google also processes your sign-in when you choose that option. These providers process the information needed for their respective services.
Our service providers process information under their applicable service terms and privacy notices. Some also separately process account, security, and service-usage information for their own operational purposes. We use the access and privacy controls available in our configurations to limit what we send.
If you choose to share a research image, the destination app or person receives the content you select. We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to protect rights or service security, or as part of a business transfer with appropriate notice and protections.
Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. A US-only App Store launch does not mean every service provider stores all data in the United States.
Device storage and website
The app stores sign-in sessions, appearance preferences, onboarding and notice state, cached app data, and one account-bound Parlay draft on your device. Parlay recovery stores only the selected matchup and editable legs. Saved selections are no longer eligible for recovery after the original tipoff, or the start of the NBA day if the game time is unavailable. The app clears invalid drafts when it next checks them, and clears recovery on sign-out or account change. Calculated scores, evidence, and research handoff tokens are not saved with the draft. The saved draft is device-local and does not sync across devices. The app sends your selections to our backend when you request Parlay research results, but does not save a synced draft there. Some notice preferences are specific to that device. Signing out clears your active sign-in session and account views, while some local preferences and cached data remain. Uninstalling removes local app storage, subject to your device’s backup behavior. Neither action deletes your server account.
These public policy pages use website hosting and analytics services. The analytics service measures website visits and page performance. Those website services receive connection and usage information as described in the website privacy policy. The website analytics script is not included in the StatLens app. The public site has no account registration, contact form, email-update signup, advertising, or reCAPTCHA embeds.
Links to Apple’s subscription settings and other external services open those services only when you choose to follow them. Your email provider processes messages you send to support. Our earlier website used forms, cookies, traffic measurement, and reCAPTCHA. Replacing that website does not automatically erase information already collected there. Contact us about earlier submissions and email-update preferences.
Retention and account deletion
We retain account information and saved research while your account exists so the service can work across devices. Canceling Pro does not delete your account: lenses that are unavailable on Free are paused and retained for a possible return to Pro. Deleting an active lens does not automatically reactivate a paused one.
You can delete your account in the app under Account → Account & data → Delete account. This removes your StatLens account, saved and paused lenses and their snapshots, favorites, recent selections, and associated account settings from our active application database, and deletes the authentication account. Apple sign-in authorization is revoked as part of the deletion process.
Account deletion does not cancel your Apple subscription or erase Apple’s purchase records. Purchase and ownership records held by our subscription-management provider are managed separately and are not automatically erased by in-app account deletion. We retain a deletion-completion record containing a hashed account reference and completion timestamps, and subscription-event processing records, to make deletion and event handling reliable. These records currently have no automatic expiration; they are not a retained copy of your saved research. Limited purchase, security, support, and backup records may also remain where needed to verify transactions or ownership, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Backups and service-provider logs may remain until their retention cycles expire. Contact us to request review or deletion of remaining personal information; we will explain any information we must retain.
See account-deletion instructions for the in-app and email request paths. We do not promise indefinite recovery of paused lenses or deleted account data.
Your choices and requests
You can edit or delete supported saved research and favorites in the app, sign out, manage your Apple subscription, or delete your account. Contact support@statlens.app to request access to, correction of, a copy of, or deletion of your personal information, or to ask about how a request was handled. We may verify that you control the account before acting. Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have additional privacy rights; we will handle requests as required by applicable law without penalizing you for exercising those rights.
Intended audience
StatLens is intended for people age 18 and older and is not directed to anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided personal information to us, contact support@statlens.app so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion.
Security and changes
We use access controls, encrypted connections, and other safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No system is completely secure.
We may update this policy as our practices change. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice of material changes in the app or by another appropriate method, and obtain consent when required.
Operator and contact
StatLens is operated by David Broers. In this policy, “StatLens,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to that service and its operator.
